Snow Tree Fun!

Backdoorshoes® Blog By Jaycee Sarah Koh

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
― Lewis Carroll,
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass

Recent days have seen heavy snow in some part of the U.K. and I has been great to see lots of families come out of their houses to have some fun riding on their sleighs, having a snow ball fight or just simply enjoying the white outdoors.

One winter, whilst I was living in Seaford, we had just had a heavy snowfall overnight and woke up to a white wonderland, delightfully beckoning us to venture out in the morning.  So we did!

Everywhere we went, the snow had settled hard overnight and nothing was thawing yet. Each way we turned in our nearby woodland was covered in a pure white blanket of snow and it even clung onto the trees.

We made a snowman, did snow angels on the ground while laughing at the sheer fun even if it was cold and had snowball fights too but we wanted to do more!

We got inspired to create something that nature had given us and started drawing snow faces on the trees with incredible results! It was like nature’s gift nudged towards creative invention through human’s hands.

Using our gloved fingers and twigs, we made many imaginary creatures and faces with various expressions, scowling eyes, smiley mouths, an old man with a hat, a seahorse with snout, ghostly apparitions and dog faces.

We had so much fun and thought what a wonderful outdoor activity this is for all ages, adults and children and it’s free!

So the next time you have snow in your area, think about what creative art you can do and share your creation with family and friends who will be inspired to indulge in this fun activity.
