At Backdoorshoes, we aim to balance profit with purpose and are committed to creating a sustainable global future. We only use materials in our footwear that are recyclable and will adopt the use of fully recycled materials where they meet our stringent performance requirements. We have set a target to be climate neutral by 2030

Our commitment to sustainability is embedded in our business practices, from the sourcing of materials to the design and manufacturing of our products, and through to their end-of-life.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
We are dedicated to reducing our environmental footprint through continuous improvement. Our key initiatives include:
Sustainable Materials: We prioritise the use of recyclable or recycled materials in our footwear. The EVA material used extensively in our footwear is a recyclable material. Our product development team are constantly reviewing new materials made from recycled or part recycled EVA and are committed to using recycled EVA that meets important performance standards as soon as it becomes available. Our footwear packaging is made from recycled material.
Waste Reduction: We aim to minimize waste throughout our production process. Our goal is to achieve zero waste to landfill by recycling, reusing, and repurposing materials.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We believe in fostering a positive impact on the communities we operate in and ensuring fair treatment of all individuals involved in our supply chain.
Ethical Labour Practices: We are committed to maintaining fair labour practices and ensuring safe, healthy, and respectful working conditions. We audit our partners to ensure strict adherence to labour laws and uphold human rights standards across our supply chain.

We are committed to designing products that are not only stylish and comfortable but also environmentally responsible. Our approach includes:
Eco-Design: Our design teams incorporate sustainability principles to create exceptionally durable footwear with a minimum number of different materials. All materials must be recyclable or recycled.
Circular Economy: We embrace the circular economy by launching our product take-back programme and our repurposing and upcycling initiatives. We aim to close the loop and ensure our products have a second life, reducing the need for new raw materials.

BACKDOORSHOES PRODUCT TAKE-BACK PROGRAMME
Sustainability starts for us with designing products that will last for many years but together we can extend the life of Backdoorshoes even further by repurposing them, for example as planters, bird feeders or storage pots for hand tools. Eventually though, your shoes may need to be recycled so we have launched our Take-Back programme to give our recyclable materials their next lease of life.
HOW PRODUCT TAKE-BACK WORKS
We want as many of our customers as possible to return their end-of-life shoes to us for recycling. So if you have not found a second use for them, we want to incentivise you to send them back. For the small cost of posting back to us we provide a generous 20% discount off your next purchase for every pair we receive.
